Diathermy, or electrolysis, as it is more traditionally known is the only FDA approved form of ‘permanent’ hair removal. A tiny needle is passed into the hollow hair follicle followed by the diathermy (a small burst of heat). This heat cauterises the tiny blood vessels supplying the hair, separating it from its base and allowing it to be removed. Due to advances in technology the treatment is pain free, with clients experiencing some discomfort at most. Electrolysis, unlike laser hair removal, is suitable for all skin types and hair colours.

To gain long term effects you need a number of treatments as we need to target each individual follicle. For this reason, diathermy is only advised on small areas, such as bikini line, underarm or face.
